shorTie designs wins National Volunteer Award
Recently I was lucky enough to be awarded a National Volunteer Award from my local member of Parliament in Yeerongpilly Brisbane.
I provided IT, web and digital support to the community organisation – Isis – The Eating Issues Centre. In 2011 I designed their digital strategy, trained volunteers and staff, managed their website, sourced resources to reduce their IT & web development costs and assisted them with many hours setting up IT systems and procedures. I was nominated as my volunteered time helped to redirect operational costs into fundraising.
Head over and have a look at Volunteering Australia and see how you can help by volunteering your skills and expertise.

That’s a fantastic thing you did — I’ve just been chatting to a friend in the States about volunteerism (her daughter is currently in the Amazon, helping build a health clinic). I came across your blog as I was checking on who would be attending a meeting of the Brisbane Bloggers group.
Congrats on the award.
Thanks so much for your feedback Kim. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and also a very fulfilling way to share your skills. I look forward to seeing you at the Brisbane Bloggers group.
